Crime Numbers falling acorss the region

Major crime numbers over multiple categories across the State have continued to be stable or have fallen over the last 2 years.

In that period, according to the latest Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research data, Locally, our region has seen a 23.4 per cent decreased in malicious damage to property, as well as a drop in theft from dwellings.

However, since 2015, rates for breach of bail conditions were up 24%, and reported sexual assault cases rose by 20.2%.

While statistics have fluctuated, it was a critical note made by the NSW bureau of crime research that social isolation measures were introduced half-way through March – which could have affected crime numbers.

Other crime categories which recorded major trends Statewide are:

·         Steal from person – decreased by 25.4 per cent;

·         Robbery without a weapon – decreased by 12.6 per cent;

·         Steal from motor vehicle – decreased by 12.1 per cent;
