'The Drip' Gorge To Be Protected

The NSW Government has declared that a further 33 hectares of land around The Drip gorge and along the Goulburn River will be protected under a State Conservation Act.

The Mudgee District Environment Group say that while this is welcomed news, this is only the first step in the process to excluding all mining activities.

Marking the gorge as a state protected area does not completely protect it from mining and exploration practices.

The local group is calling on boosting the status of the area to that of the Goulburn River Park status, to maintain the stability of sandstone cliffs along the river corridor.
