Better Mobile Coverage For Regional Australians

Mobile Blackspot coverage will be expanded and improved across regional and remote areas, with round 5A of the Mobile Black Spot Program now open for applications.

The guidelines for this round were announced last week with Minister Mark Coulton saying the Federal Government “want to support new ways of delivering mobile services to locations that have traditionally been less economic for mobile network operators.”

He also says that “this round will also have a specific focus on improving mobile coverage along major transport corridors and in disaster-prone regions.” 

Mobile network operators and infrastructure providers are encouraged to register their interest by Tuesday December 16.
